Mini Collection Project (Sportswear Project) (Istanbul Fashion Academy x London College of Fashion/Second Year, Third Semester Project)
For my 2025-2026 Mini Collection Project at İstanbul Moda Akademisi, I developed an autonomous luxury sportswear capsule proposal designed for the future of Porsche Design. Within this project, I designed an 8-look collection and fully produced one 'hero' look. The design integrates technical materiality, multi-layered protective structures, and precise ergonomic pattern-cutting optimised through CLO3D digital prototyping. Conceptually, the collection explores the exact intersection of human vulnerability and mechanical perfection, utilising Niki Lauda’s analytical mindset and the protective shift of the 1975 FIA safety regulations as its core foundation. To deepen this narrative, I integrated the biological metaphors of skeletal posture and structural power, symbolised by the symbolic duel between the Stuttgart and Ferrari horses, translating aerodynamic forces and F1 telemetry curves into functional, zero-error garment construction.
For the main fabric of the hero look, I utilised a signature Barbour wax-coated style textile, complemented by a lightweight tartan shirting fabric for the lining. I am deeply grateful to Bisem/Özay Kumaş for their generous fabric sponsorship and support throughout this project. My material selection process focused heavily on fabrics that would seamlessly support both the structural flight-suit silhouette and the intricate technical zipper aesthetics. Barbour’s textile heritage, built on uncompromising durability and decades of performance sustainability, served as the cornerstone of my fabric selection. Contrasting this, the tartan lining serves as a subtle, textile-driven nod to the iconic chequered aesthetic synonymous with racing tracks.
The completed garment features seven custom Porsche-themed patches that construct and solidify the visual brand identity. Engineered as a highly modular flight suit, the piece is equipped with an adaptable technical zipper system, allowing it to be effortlessly deconstructed and worn individually as a vest, a jacket, or trousers.
The main fabric composition consists of 72% Cotton and 28% Polyester, while the lining features a blend of 67% Cotton, 30% Polyester, and 3% Elastane.
